Every year on October 11, the world marks International Day of the Girl, a global moment to celebrate girls everywhere and to amplify their voices, their actions, and their leadership.
At Girls Education International, we believe every girl deserves the freedom to learn, grow, make her own choices, and define her own future. For too many girls, that freedom still depends on where they were born.
Two countries, the same impact
We work in two countries, but the cause and the impact are the same. When girls have the freedom to learn, it changes the world.
Our partner in Pakistan, Bedari Foundation, is seeing that change firsthand. Families who once put their sons' education first are now supporting their daughters too. That support opens the door for girls to go even further, into vocational training and job skills.
Why education is about freedom
When a girl stays in school, she gains more than knowledge. She gains choices: what to study, what work to pursue, when to start a family, and how to shape her community.
“Education is the foundation for every other freedom she will claim.”
That's what October 11th—International Day of the Girl—is about. It's a reminder that girls are leaders, thinkers, and changemakers, and they deserve our support.
Thank you
None of this happens without you. Thank you for supporting the mission and message of Girls Ed and for standing behind opportunities for girls everywhere. Because of you, girls in rural Tanzania and rural Pakistan are learning, growing, and choosing their own paths.
